Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada and Operator certification on core light and heavy duty equipment and be able to be certified as a Capable Person Trainer
- The candidates should be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting or carrying up to 25 kg, walking, sitting, or standing for prolonged periods, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, twisting, bending, operating vehicles and equipment, as well as exposure to dust or pollen, irritating vegetation, and chemicals or fumes
- The candidates should be able to work extended hours, weekends, and on statutory holidays, be called out to work at unusual hours, and have the ability to respond to an emergency situation within a reasonable time frame (30 minutes)
- The candidates should be able to work in all weather conditions and be prepared for both extreme heat and cold and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 3.0 driver’s license with air brake endorsement without restrictions
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience related to highway maintenance operations and experience in the operation and maintenance of commonly used highway maintenance equipment
- The candidates should be able to complete paperwork and prepare reports and  experience with road maintenance policies, practices, and materials
- The candidates should have knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health, and Risk Management Policies and Procedures and strong interpersonal communication skills
- The candidates should have strong leadership skills and strong organizational and time management skills
- The candidates should have strong decision-making skills and basic computer experience (such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet) and knowledge of Maintenance Management System (MMS)
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to oversee maintenance employees involved in a variety of highway maintenance tasks, ensuring effective leadership and guidance
- The candidates should be able to plan and schedule maintenance activities, ensuring the availability of manpower and equipment required to maintain the highway network within the designated maintenance area
- The candidates should be able to coordinate various routine maintenance tasks and manage special projects as needed to ensure efficient highway operations
- The candidates should be able to ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with safety regulations and quality standards
