Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Grade 12 or Completion of the first year of a recognized Recreation Administration or related diploma or degree program
Experience: Candidates should have minimum one year of direct experience leading recreational, cultural or related educational programs

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in cycling-focused education or leading cycling ride-alongs and should have experience leading and/or facilitating meetings and delivering presentations
  • The candidates should possess Standard First Aid and CPR certification and should demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • The candidates should have the ability to instruct, organize, and supervise group activities effectively and should be proficient in using equipment and materials effectively, including riding a bicycle, e-bicycle, and e-scooter
  • The candidates should be comfortable using a bike to get around downtown and riding up to 20 km in one day and should be proficient in Google Applications
  • The candidates should demonstrate a customer service mindset and compliance with the City of Edmonton’s safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • The candidates should have possession of a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) and Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver’s permit
  • The candidates should demonstrate alignment with the Cultural Commitments of Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated, and Excellent, fostering an environment for others to do the same
  • The candidates should demonstrate the foundational competencies, key behaviors, and attributes of the City’s six leadership competencies: Courage, Inclusivity, Values-Based Influencer, Collaborative Networker, Systems Thinker, and Creative Innovator

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to lead and deliver various cycling and micro mobility (shared e-scooter / e-bikes) education and encouragement programs
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with their team to develop and deliver program activities and coordinate event logistics for the City’s bike education and encouragement programs, which include cycling ridealongs, presentations, and events
  • The candidates should be able to report on outreach activities, including collecting and sharing metrics, and help identify the impact and improvements for future activations
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the overall safety of participants in bike education programs and activations while supporting accessibility for different learners and micro mobility users
  • The candidates should be able to respond to resident inquiries, concerns, and questions about the bicycle education programs
  • The candidates should be able to work directly with residents, businesses, and other external stakeholders, including adults and children, as well as other Bike Street Educators
  • The candidates should be able to assist with other Vibrant Streets programs which connect to micro mobility and the Bike Plan, including the patio program, parking, and decorative traffic control boxes
  • The candidates should be able to work to increase awareness and understanding of the rules of the road and how to navigate Edmonton’s Active Transportation Network
  • The candidates should be able to perform other related duties as required
