Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have 1 to 3 years of cargo operational experience with knowledge of cargo customs

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work effectively in a team and have excellent interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should have a proven ability to function well in both unionized and management environments
  • The candidates should be eligible to work in the country of interest at the time any offer of employment is made and are responsible for seeking any required work permits, visas, or other authorizations

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to effectively and simultaneously manage a large volume of priorities to completion and strong capabilities in Microsoft 365
  • The candidates should possess strong computer skills and an understanding of risk assessment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to lead investigations of customs compliance failures and work with stations on corrective actions, mitigating customs fines by challenging Customs authorities when appropriate if fines were assigned unfairly or inappropriately
  • The candidates should be able to determine the redirection of customs fine payments to the appropriate source, such as the station, GHA, customs messaging provider, or IT, based on the results of their investigations
  • The candidates should be able to participate on behalf of Air Canada Cargo in industry working groups and task forces to share knowledge, add expertise, and develop a strong industry network to leverage
  • The candidates should be able to launch new or revised customs mandates, coordinating activities with the station, IT, GHAs, regulators, Communications, Training Procedures, and Engineering teams
  • The candidates should be able to perform on-site station Safety, Quality, and Regulatory compliance audits as the lead auditor or auditor, comparing SOP with observed actions and maintain the customs database with new or revised requirements, messaging logistics, vendors, and escalation contacts
  • The candidates should be able to provide expertise and support to the Communications, Procedures, Training, and Engineering teams and deliver ongoing support to the YYZ ACI Desk by ensuring they have the required technology, regulations, coaching, and access to expertise
  • The candidates should be able to provide content to the Procedures team regarding customs-related initiatives for PUB, ACCLR, and Advisory updates and provide content to the Marketing team for external communication regarding customs initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to maintain constant communication with Operation and Commercial teams regarding pending mandates, potential roadblocks, and resolutions
  • The candidates should be able to ensure customs launch dates are respected and leverage internal and external contacts for support
