Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of an undergraduate degree in a related field Law, Psychology, HR and Industrial Relations
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years’ experience in human resources, with a focus on investigations and case management, ideally in a University environment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to exercise tact, independent judgment, and discretion, particularly when handling sensitive client interactions and maintaining confidentiality
- The candidates should be able to prioritize a fluctuating workload, manage pressure effectively, and meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
- The candidates should be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have an equivalent combination of education and experience. A graduate degree
- The candidates should have experience in policy interpretation and have an expert understanding of labour legislation and employment law, including the Ontario Human Rights Code and Occupational Health and Safety Act
- The candidates should be have demonstrate experience working with diverse populations and have effective consultation skills with designated groups
- The candidates should have experience with labour relations, organizational change, attendance management, performance management, and salary administration
- The candidates should have sound knowledge of human resources best practices and familiarity with public sector employment
- The candidates should be proficient in using word processing, spreadsheet applications, database management, SharePoint, and scheduling software Outlook Internet research skills
- The candidates should be familiar with SAP (HRIS) and case management software and excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, along with strong analytical abilities
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to advise University client groups on employment-related laws and jurisprudence, including the Human Rights Code and the Employment Standards Act
- The candidates should be able to provide general advice and guidance on traditional HR functions, such as recruitment, job evaluation, labour relations, and employee engagement
- The candidates should be able to participate in special projects and process re-engineering initiatives
