Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should be a graduate of a medical school located outside of Canada and the United States, listed in the Foundation of Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) International Medical Directory (IMED)
Experience: Candidates should have recent experience in an acute care facility; specifically, those who have had specific experience within the last 3 years
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have completed at least one full year such as May 1st to April 30th) of hands-on training after obtaining their medical degree as a requirement for licensure by the CPSA
- The candidates should have taken the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in Canada with minimum required scores of 7.0 in each of the components within 24 months prior to registration, as a requirement for licensure by the CPSA
- The candidates should have taken and passed at least the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Exam, level 1 (MCCQE1), as a requirement for licensure by the CPSA
- The candidates should have experience in Pediatrics, and those with additional experience in Pediatric Oncology
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to obtain a limited medical license issued from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
- The candidates should be able to work under the direction of supervising physicians within a multidisciplinary team setting to deliver acute patient care in the section of the NICU at the Alberta Children’s Hospital
- The candidates should be able to work alongside other members of the section including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and dieticians to provide clinical care to complex pediatric patients
- The candidates should be able to understand that clinical research is important in this field of practice, and the care of children registered on research trials is an important part of the role
