Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have graduation from an approved/recognized School of Physiotherapy program
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years experience within the last five working as a Clinical Physiotherapist with an adult cardiorespiratory population

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should occasionally lift or move objects between 10 – 37 lbs and a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • The candidates should regularly bend, kneel, stretch, and physically lift, push, pull, and/or maneuver patient/clients with medium force, including transferring patients and assisting with mobility
  • The candidates should occasionally use hand tools and equipment and handle time pressures and interruptions with little control over work pace

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapists (NLCP)
  • The candidates should have successful completion of post-entry education courses in Cardiorespiratory assessment/treatment and Orthopedic Level I (or equivalent as determined by NLHS)
  • The candidates should have experience providing virtual care and expertise in data management and demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, patients, and their families in a one-to-one and/or group environment
  • The candidates should have the ability to direct, supervise, and mentor students and physiotherapy support workers and proven leadership skills
  • The candidates should have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an inter professional team and the capability to prioritize caseload and patient needs and a satisfactory record of work performance and attendance

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to take a leadership role in a variety of quality initiatives in the Medicine Program
  • The candidates should be able to serve as a resource for referring primary care providers and physician specialists, consulting, and advising physiotherapy staff and other interdisciplinary team members in the area of clinical expertise
  • The candidates should be able to provide teaching on advanced assessment and treatment techniques to physiotherapy staff in the practice area, as well as provincial consultation
  • The candidates should be able to precept students, provide mentorship and enhancement opportunities for staff in the practice area, collaborate with others for program planning issues, and participate in activities of the Division and profession that contribute to a high quality, safe, and healthy workplace environment
  • The candidates should be able to report the Division Manager, Medicine HSC 4SA and Provincial Cystic Fibrosis Program
  • The candidates should be able to maintain accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for the discipline regarding professional integrity
