Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapists (NLCP)
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience within the last five years working as a Clinical Physiotherapist with adult clients
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to occasionally lift or move objects weighing between 10 – 37 lbs and regularly be able to sit, stand, and walk as part of their duties
- The candidates should regularly be required to bend, kneel, stretch, and use physical force to lift, push, pull, and maneuver patients or clients, including transferring patients and assisting with mobility
- The candidates should occasionally use hand tools and equipment and handle time pressures and interruptions, often with little control over the work pace
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, patients, and their families in one-on-one and/or group settings
- The candidates should have the ability to direct, supervise, and mentor students and rehabilitation assistants
- The candidates should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team and prioritize caseload and patients
- The candidates should possess a valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver’s License and have access to a private vehicle and a satisfactory record of work performance
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide specialized rehabilitation and restorative residential care primarily in a Personal Care Home (PCH) environment and in clients’ homes
- The candidates should be able to assess, treat, and facilitate discharge planning for clients with the goal of returning to their home environment
- The candidates should be able to practice independently while being an integral member of an interdisciplinary team in the PCH and community
- The candidates should be able to build respectful relationships with clients, team members, and others involved in the systems in which they work
- The candidates should be able to manage clients, contribute to program and policy development, project development, quality initiatives, planning and evaluation activities, and engage in evidence-based practice
- The candidates should be able to participate in education and community capacity building
- The candidates should be able to receive clinical support and mentoring from the Physiotherapist III for CSP and supervise Rehabilitation Assistants as part of the delivery of interventions to clients
- The candidates should be able to precept Physiotherapy students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within NL Health Services
- The candidates should be able to report to the Division Manager of the Community Support Program and maintain accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Physiotherapy regarding integrity and professional practice issues
