Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the Inuktut, English, or French Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a Diploma in Social Sciences
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 1 year of experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a related field and a combination of experience and education
  • The candidates should have knowledge of case management practices, policies, and procedures; development of community reintegration plans; and the Criminal Code, Youth Criminal Justice Act, and Corrections and Conditional Release Act
  • The candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, along with good verbal and written communication skills and problem-solving abilities
  • The candidates should be able to submit their resume in any of Nunavut’s official languages: Inuktut, English, or French. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages
  • The candidates should have knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to supervise clients who are under supervision and have legal restrictions on their freedom
  • The candidates should be able to interview clients and complete risk and needs assessments, explaining results and identifying and implementing appropriate programs to address criminogenic factors
  • The candidates should be able to directly supervise clients incarcerated in communities (Conditional Sentence Orders) and interact with their family and friends in the community on a daily basis outside of the workplace
  • The candidates should be able to supervise federal paroled offenders, completing community assessments and reintegration plans under the direction of Nunavut Parole Services
