Location: Lake Ontario
Hours of work: This position work 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) and will be asked to work full time hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) during vacation and other leave periods

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: The candidates should have a minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
Experience: The candidates should have a minimum of two 2 years of strong front-line customer service experience in an office setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess excellent customer service skills
  • The candidates should have excellent organization, administrative, and time management skills
  • The candidates should have experience with processing payments, balancing cash, and preparing bank deposits
  • The candidates should have excellent keyboarding skills to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently
  • The candidates should have proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • The candidates should have the ability to quickly learn and work with various software
  • The candidates should have the ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive matters
  • The candidates should be able to provide a current criminal record check that is satisfactory to the Town of Ajax, upon being hired

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide frontline customer service to the public by telephone, in-person, and email correspondence in a timely manner
  • The candidates should be able to prepare marriage licenses and perform Commissioner of Oaths services
  • The candidates should be able to register animal licenses and process payments for animal licenses, parking tickets, and permits
  • The candidates should be able to balance the cash register and prepare daily bank deposits
  • The candidates should be able to prepare letters to accompany proclamations and celebratory certificates (i.e., birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions)
  • The candidates should be able to provide back-up support to the Switchboard and Information Desk duties, including coverage during leave periods (e.g., vacation)
  • The candidates should be able to perform other duties as assigned
