Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Experience: Candidates should have several years of experience in a multi-disciplinary design environment producing mechanical drawings and specifications for built facilities and structures
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid Class “G” Driver’s License for the Province of Ontario and have access to a vehicle
- The candidates should have in-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, methods, and practices for the design and construction of surface and subway transit-related buildings, facilities, and equipment
- The candidates should demonstrate sound knowledge of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, plumbing, drainage, high-pressure piping, fire protection, and fleet servicing equipment, including fluid distribution and storage tanks, hoisting or conveying equipment, and subway ventilation systems for tunnels and stations
- The candidates should have comprehensive working knowledge of provincial and national codes, regulations, and standards governing mechanical design for buildings, including the Ontario Building Code (OBC), National Building Code (NBC), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Ontario Fire Code (OFC), ASHRAE, ASPE, ANSI/ASME, CSA, Electrical Safety Code (ESA), and TTC Design Standards
- The candidates should have strong working knowledge of Bentley MicroStation or Autodesk AutoCAD, building heating and cooling analysis software, MS Office, and other relevant software applications
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide mechanical engineering expertise to prepare conceptual and final designs of building services, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, high-pressure piping, and other specialized systems for transit facilities
- The candidates should be able to work under the technical direction of the Senior Mechanical Engineer to review the work of Engineering Technologists and ensure the preparation of accurate mechanical drawings and specifications
- The candidates should be able to evaluate the work of outside consultants and assist in developing standard drawings to uphold engineering standards
- The candidates should be able to perform construction support activities such as conducting field reviews and shop drawing evaluations to ensure compliance with project requirements
- The candidates should be able to take professional responsibility for engineering and design work in accordance with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) standards
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate behaviours that promote diversity, inclusion, and respect, creating a work and service environment free of discrimination and harassment
- The candidates should be able to ensure compliance with the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC policies in their areas of responsibility
- The candidates should be able to participate actively in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program, fostering a positive customer experience
