Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Diesel engine repair specialization: Exhaust system, cooling system, air conditioning system, lubrication system, engine control system, major internal engine repairs or overhaul, and installation and alignment of engines and machinery
Powered equipment repair specialization: Cable-operated working attachments, hydraulic-operated working attachments, compressors, pumps, and electric generators
Mechanical maintenance and repair specialization: Mechanical transmissions, drive trains and final drives, hydraulic transmissions, power take-offs, tracked vehicle suspensions and steering, wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering, and differentials

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors, non-smoking, and able to work in dusty conditions, hot environments, and noisy settings
  • The candidates should be prepared for physically demanding tasks, have attention to detail, and be capable of bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • The candidates should possess hand-eye coordination, be able to handle heavy loads, and have manual dexterity
  • The candidates should have sound discrimination abilities, be able to stand for extended periods, and lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

  • The candidates should demonstrate dependability, exhibit flexibility, and demonstrate good judgment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required, and order parts and maintain inventory
  • The candidates should be able to adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, keep maintenance reports and documentation, and test repaired equipment for proper performance to ensure work meets manufacturers’ specifications
  • The candidates should be able to clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work, perform repair work on heavy trucks, verify and repair emission control systems, and perform other routine maintenance
