Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Bachelor of Science specializing in Biology and Aquaculture
Experience: Candidates should have experience in an advisory role in the aquaculture industry

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively and ability to prepare budgets
  • The candidates should have the ability to think critically and the ability to work independently

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in managing resources, including human, information, and financial resources
  • The candidates should have experience in developing and maintaining budgets and knowledge of the aquaculture industry in the province
  • The candidates should have the ability to manage resources effectively, including human, information, and financial resources
  • The candidates should have the ability to build and maintain relationships, demonstrate initiative and exhibit professionalism

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be accountable for the development, delivery, and implementation of operations and services related to the development and management of the Aquaculture Industry in Newfoundland and Labrador
  • The candidates should be able to help monitor industry compliance and ensure that license holders adhere to the Aquaculture Act and Regulations
  • The candidates should be able to manage financial and technical programs to promote and develop aquaculture
  • The candidates should be able to manage and implement programs related to biological and technical research, development, and fieldwork activities related to extension services and oversee the Aquaculture Licensing program and transfer process
  • The candidates should be able to administer the Division’s operations by developing budgets, assigning staff responsibilities, and maintaining effective liaison with industry and government departments and agencies
  • The candidates should be able to provide recommendations on programs and policies by preparing reports, cabinet papers, and Treasury Board submissions
  • The candidates should be able to administer the Newfoundland Aquaculture Act and the Canada or Newfoundland Memorandum of Understanding and perform other related duties
