Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completed a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 24 months of verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver within the last 3 years
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts based on operational needs, including days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
- The candidates should understand that shift lengths will vary depending on the event at Canadian Blood Services’ fixed and mobile donor centers and be aware that there will be no long-haul or cross-border driving
- The candidates should be prepared to travel to attend mobile events, with transportation provided by Canadian Blood Services
- The candidates should have the physical capability to load, unload, push, and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs.), and pulling or pushing up to 136 kg (300 lbs.) on a wheeled platform
- The candidates should be able to work within a strong culture of mutual respect and integrity and demonstrate a willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 driver’s license, or Class 1-3 with knowledge test, along with a clean commercial driver’s abstract from within the last 30 days
- The candidates should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs
- The candidates should be able to communicate effectively in English, with a second language
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures, maintaining appropriate temperature
- The candidates should be able to ensure the safety of employees, donors, and/or volunteers traveling with them
- The candidates should be able to conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working order and accurately complete all required documentation
- The candidates should be able to assist the collections team by greeting donors and helping them book or rebook appointments, leveraging their customer service skills
- The candidates should be able to assist with setting up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events, utilizing their familiarity with technology and ability to learn new programs
- The candidates should be able to work with staff to carry, set up, and dismantle equipment and supplies, drawing on their superior interpersonal and communication skills
- The candidates should be able to load and unload equipment and supplies at donor center sites and upon return to the center
