Canadian Blood Services’ Logistics Team based in Nanaimo, BC is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Driver 3. Canadian Blood Services’ Logistics Team ensures the efficient collection, transportation, and distribution of blood and blood products. It handle the logistics of getting critical supplies to healthcare facilities. By optimizing processes and maintaining high safety standards, it enhance the efficiency of the national blood donation system. Its work supports the healthcare system with reliable, timely deliveries. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 24 months verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver, within the last 3 years

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid unrestricted Class 4 BC drivers license and a clean commercial drivers abstract from within the last 30 days
  • The candidates should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively in English. A second language

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to utilize their experience with driving and transportation to ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures and are kept at an appropriate temperature. They will also ensure the safety of employees, donors, and volunteers traveling with them
  • The candidates should be able to draw on their knowledge of safe transportation procedures and attention to detail to conduct pre-trip inspections, ensuring equipment is in proper working order, and accurately complete all required documentation
  • The candidates should be able to leverage their customer service skills to assist the collections team by greeting and helping donors book or rebook appointments
  • The candidates should be able to assist with setting up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events by utilizing their familiarity with technology and aptitude for learning new programs
  • The candidates should be able to utilize their superior interpersonal and communication skills to work with staff to carry and set up or dismantle equipment and supplies. They will also load and unload equipment and supplies at donor center sites and upon return to the center
