Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completed a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 24 months of verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver within the last three years
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be aware that there will be no long-haul or cross-border driving and willing to travel in and around Vancouver, including Merritt, Kelowna, Kamloops, Penticton, Victoria, Nanaimo, and other parts of Vancouver Island
- The candidates should understand that overnight stays will only be required in emergencies or if agreed upon in advance
- The candidates should have the physical capability to load, unload, push, and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies, which will include stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs.), as well as pulling and pushing up to 136 kg (300 lbs.) on a wheeled platform
- The candidates should contribute to a strong culture of mutual respect and integrity and a willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid Class 4 Unrestricted BC driver’s license and a clean commercial driver’s abstract from within the last 30 days
- The candidates should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs
- The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively in English; a second language
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to utilize their experience with driving and transportation to ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures, maintaining appropriate temperatures
- The candidates should be able to ensure the safety of employees, donors, and volunteers traveling with them
- The candidates should be able to conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working order and accurately complete all required documentation, drawing on their knowledge of safe transportation procedures and attention to detail
- The candidates should be able to leverage their customer service skills to assist the collections team by greeting donors and helping them book or rebook appointments
- The candidates should be able to assist with setting up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events by utilizing their familiarity with technology and aptitude for learning new programs
- The candidates should be able to utilize their superior interpersonal and communication skills to work with staff in carrying and setting up or dismantling equipment and supplies
- The candidates should be able to load and unload equipment and supplies at donor center sites and upon return to the center
