Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 24 months of verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver, within the last 3 years

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs, be willing to learn procedures in a regulatory environment
  • The candidates should be available to travel in and around Vancouver, including Merritt, Kelowna, Kamloops, Penticton, Victoria, Nanaimo, and other parts of Vancouver Island, with no overnights unless an emergency arises or agreed upon in advance
  • The candidates should have the physical capability to load, unload, push, and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies, which may involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs.), and pulling and pushing up to 136 kg (300 lbs.) on a wheeled platform, contribute to a strong culture of mutual respect and integrity

  • The candidates should possess a valid Class 4 Unrestricted BC driver’s license and a clean commercial driver’s abstract from within the last 30 days

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure the safe transportation of blood and blood products in accordance with safety measures and procedures, maintaining appropriate temperature conditions, while ensuring the safety of employees, donors, and volunteers traveling with them
  • The candidates should be able to conduct pre-trip inspections to verify that equipment is in proper working order and accurately complete all required documentation
  • The candidates should be able to assist the collections team by greeting donors and helping them book or rebook appointments as required, utilizing strong customer service skills
  • The candidates should be able to assist with setting up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events, leveraging their familiarity with technology and ability to learn new programs
  • The candidates should be able to work effectively with staff to carry, set up, and dismantle equipment and supplies, as well as load and unload equipment at donor center sites and upon return to the center, utilizing superior interpersonal and communication skills
