Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have minimum 24 months verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver, within the last 3 years

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts based on operational needs at Canadian Blood Services fixed and mobile donor centers. Shifts may include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and statutory holidays
  • The candidates should have the physical capability to load, unload, push, and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies. This includes stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 50 lbs, and pulling and pushing up to 300 lbs on a wheeled platform
  • The candidates should adhere to a strong culture of mutual respect and integrity

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid Ontario class A, B, C, D, or F driver’s license and a clean commercial driver’s abstract from within the last 30 days
  • The candidates should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs
  • The candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment
  • The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively in English. A second language

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures, maintaining appropriate temperatures throughout transit
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the safety of employees, donors, and volunteers traveling with them during transportation
  • The candidates should be able to conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure that transportation equipment is in proper working order, adhering to safe transportation procedures, and accurately complete all required documentation
  • The candidates should be able to utilize their customer service skills to greet donors and assist them in booking or rebooking appointments as needed, supporting the collections team
  • The candidates should be able to set up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events, leveraging their familiarity with technology and ability to learn new programs
  • The candidates should be able to work effectively with staff to carry, set up, and dismantle equipment and supplies at various locations. They should also be able to load and unload equipment and supplies at donor center sites and upon return to the center
