Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completed a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 24 months of verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver within the last 3 years
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have a willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment
- The candidates should be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts based on operational needs, including days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays, with shifts ranging from 3 to 14 hours
- The candidates should not be required to perform long-haul or cross-border driving and uphold a strong culture of mutual respect and integrity
- The candidates should be able to travel for mobile events, requiring overnight stays (2 to 3 nights) while operating a Canadian Blood Services vehicle
- The candidates should have the physical capability to load, unload, push, and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs.), and pulling or pushing up to 136 kg (300 lbs.) with assistance
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid Newfoundland Class 4 driver’s license and provide a clean commercial driver’s abstract from within the last 30 days
- The candidates should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs
- The candidates should be able to communicate effectively in English, with a second language
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures while maintaining appropriate temperature control
- The candidates should be able to ensure the safety of employees, donors, and volunteers traveling with them
- The candidates should be able to conduct pre-trip inspections to verify equipment functionality and accurately complete all required documentation
- The candidates should be able to assist the collections team by greeting donors and helping them book or rebook appointments
- The candidates should be able to set up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events, leveraging their familiarity with technology and ability to learn new programs
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with staff to carry, set up, and dismantle equipment and supplies
- The candidates should be able to load and unload equipment and supplies at donor centre sites and upon return to the centre
