Position: Early childhood educator (E.C.E.)

Salary: $21.00 to $23.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 35 to 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Hagersville, ON
Shifts: Day, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Own transportation
Work setting: Child care centre, urban area, and before and after school programs
Supervision: 1 to 2 people
Target audience: Newborns (including expecting mothers) and infants (3 months – 11 months)
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Experience with special needs children: Children with a mental health disability, children with a physical disability, children with behavioral issues, children with asthma, children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder (ADD), and children with diabetes
Credentials: Emergency child care first aid and CPR, and member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
Security and safety: Immunization records and vulnerable sector check
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and in noisy environments, as well as in air-conditioned environments
- The candidates should be able to handle repetitive tasks efficiently and be prepared for physically demanding work
- The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as with bending, crouching, and kneeling
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should prioritize punctuality and demonstrate dependability, possessing efficient interpersonal skills and exhibiting excellent written communication skills
- The candidates should display flexibility in their approach to tasks and exercise sound judgment, demonstrating reliability and being team players
- The candidates should uphold strong values and ethics
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, as well as develop and implement child-care programs supporting their holistic development
- The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators in carrying out such programs, lead activities like storytelling and music sessions, and encourage children’s creativity through various media
- The candidates should be capable of guiding children in developing proper habits, submitting written observations on children, and being knowledgeable about relevant regulations
- The candidates should be able to assess children’s abilities and needs, communicate progress or issues with parents and staff, and attend staff meetings for discussions
- The candidates should be able to establish collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers, plan and maintain a safe environment, organize activities for school-age children, and supervise other early childhood educators and assistants
