Salary: $18.00 to $19.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 40 hours per week

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 7 months to less than 1 year
Experience with special needs children:
Children with an intellectual disability, Children with behavioral issues, Children with allergies, Children with asthma, and Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder  
Credentials: Child development worker (ECE level 2), Emergency child care first aid and CPR, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be non-smoking
  • The candidates should have strong attention to detail and be able to handle a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • The candidates should be able to bend, crouch, and kneel

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be punctual, dependable, and reliable, with strong values and ethics
  • The candidates should have efficient interpersonal skills, strong interpersonal awareness, and excellent oral and written communication
  • The candidates should be flexible and a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, and assist early childhood educators in carrying out similar programs
  • The candidates should be able to lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest, as well as engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts
  • The candidates should be able to encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity, and guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • The candidates should be able to prepare snacks, arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, and observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems, preparing reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
  • The candidates should be able to submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors, discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings, and have knowledge of licensing regulations
  • The candidates should be able to establish guidelines for behavior, attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, and establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
