Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as bachelor’s degree
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Credentials: Child development worker (ECE level 2)
Security and safety: Criminal record check

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should be able to perform repetitive tasks and handle physically demanding tasks
• The candidates should be able to manage a combination of sitting, standing, and walking and bend, crouch, and kneel

Other Requirements:

• The candidates should be punctual, dependable, and flexible
• The candidates should be able to demonstrate judgement, be reliable, and able to work as a team player
• The candidates should be creative and able to multitask

Candidate Status:

• Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children and tell stories and supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers
• The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children and lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
• The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records and encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
• The candidates should be able to engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts and guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
• The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors and submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
• The candidates should be able to discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings and attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
• The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children and plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
• The candidates should be able to plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours and supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
