Salary: $18.54 to $27.62 hourly (To be negotiated) for 30 to 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: 101 6 St SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1G7, Canada
Work setting: Child care centre, urban area, nursery school, before and after school programs, day care centre or nursery school
Supervision: 3-4 people
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Experience with special needs children: Children who are deaf or hard of hearing, children with a physical disability, children with behavioural issues, children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder (ADD)
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1), child development supervisor (ECE level 3), child development worker (ECE level 2), early childhood education (ECE) certificate, first aid certificate, CPR certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Child welfare check, vulnerable sector check
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have a strong attention to detail, be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as with tasks involving bending, crouching, and kneeling
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate punctuality, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, flexibility, interpersonal awareness, reliability, the ability to work as a team player, and strong values and ethics
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers
- The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
- The candidates should be skilled in storytelling
- The candidates should be able to supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers
- The candidates should be able to lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
- The candidates should be able to support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
- The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
- The candidates should be able to engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts
- The candidates should be able to provide opportunities for children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
- The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
- The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
- The candidates should be able to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
- The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
- The candidates should be able to submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
- The candidates should have knowledge of licensing regulations
- The candidates should be able to establish guidelines for behavior
- The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
- The candidates should be able to attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and problems of children
- The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
- The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
- The candidates should be able to plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
- The candidates should be able to supervise and coordinate the activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
