Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a degree in Early Childhood Education or in Education with a focus on early childhood development is considered an asset
Experience: Candidates should have three (3) years of applicable administrative or early childhood education experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should have completed First Aid, Infant/child CPR training, which would be required during the probationary period
  • The candidate should be aware that the Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut and French
  • This is a Highly Sensitive Position, and the candidate should have a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check, which is required
  • The candidate should have fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset
  • The candidate should have knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to ensure facilities and programs meet the required standards as defined through Nunavut’s Child Day Care Act
  • The candidate should work with stakeholders, partners, and clients to identify opportunities to increase the availability and affordability of childcare in Nunavut
  • The candidate should conduct early childhood facility inspections, including (but not limited to): a review of registration documents, policies, and records
  • The candidate should investigate complaints about facilities and programs and take action as required
  • The candidate should liaise with the applicable agencies on standards of operation

Benefits:

  • The candidate will receive a Northern Allowance of $16,008 per year
