Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a degree in Business
Experience: Candidates should have experience in business and regional economic development

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing to accept day travel and occasional overnight travel
  • The candidates should have the ability to effectively exchange information and ability to manage time and tasks effectively

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience with commercial and non-commercial financing and experience in business counselling and proposal analysis
  • The candidates should have experience in fostering collaboration with business, industry, academia, and other community stakeholders
  • The candidates should have knowledge of business and regional economic development and knowledge of commercial and non-commercial financing
  • The candidates should have knowledge of business counselling and proposal analysis and knowledge of economic development issues facing the province
  • The candidates should possess analytical skills and demonstrate strong relationship-building skills
  • The candidates should acknowledge the requirement for the use of a private vehicle (with business insurance)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to promote and deliver regional economic development and business development programs, services, and initiatives under the direction of the Regional Manager
  • The candidates should be able to liaise, support, and build partnerships with regional economic development and business stakeholders in strategic planning, opportunity management, negotiating contracts, monitoring performance and budgets, and promoting economic development and diversification throughout the region
  • The candidates should be able to lead and facilitate economic development planning activities with various audiences and support capacity building efforts with economic development stakeholders
  • The candidates should be able to analyze project and business proposals, assess complex applications for financial assistance including loans, equity, and grants, and review and monitor the progress of approved projects
  • The candidates should be able to provide recommendations on loan security requirements and make independent decisions regarding financial and counseling services for commercial and non-commercial clients
  • The candidates should be able to foster collaboration between businesses, post-secondary institutions, and government to drive regional innovation, productivity, and competitiveness
  • The candidates should be able to provide advice and support to senior management and represent the department on various economic development issues
  • The candidates should be able to prepare considerable written documentation, including internal and external briefing notes, and perform other related duties
