Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of completed at minimum a 2-year post-secondary program in electronics (such as electronic technician/technologist programs
Experience: Candidates should have two years of experience, within the last five years, in the maintenance and repair of a variety of electronic systems and equipment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have hold a DEC in Quebec, possess a diploma per the educational requirements funded by Canada Post in the last five years
  • The candidates should meet the language requirements for the position, an understanding of maintenance, repair, overhaul, installation, and modification of electronic systems and equipment
  • The candidates should have a basic understanding of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and principles such as hydraulics, pneumatics, and servo controllers
  • The candidates should be able to exercise physical effort in lifting heavy equipment and tools and perform maintenance routines under a variety of conditions, including cramped spaces, heights, and other awkward positions
  • The candidates should be able to operate a computer and use programs such as Windows and MS Office, run and interpret computer diagnostics

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic and electro-mechanical postal equipment, including testing, diagnosis, cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, and part modification or rebuilding
  • The candidates should be able to read and interpret schematics, drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications to locate and correct potential or existing malfunctions
  • The candidates should be able to recommend changes to preventive maintenance procedures and assist in revising maintenance checklists and task frequencies to improve equipment reliability
  • The candidates should be able to investigate serious equipment failures, determine causes, and recommend remedial actions to prevent future breakdowns
  • The candidates should be able to initiate work orders for corrective actions, assist in estimating time and materials, and efficiently lay out work for major or difficult jobs
  • The candidates should be able to observe and promote established safety practices, recommend additional safety measures as needed, and advise operations personnel on safe and effective equipment operation
  • The candidates should be able to work in a physically demanding environment, including working at heights
