Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language

Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 1 year of related work experience handling emergency type equipment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to operate and drive Paramedic Service vehicles and work closely with other Paramedic Service staff to identify opportunities for improvement
- The candidates should be capable of accurately checking and re-supplying medical equipment and supplies, performing preventative maintenance, identifying problems, and using a computer for data entry
- The candidates should be able to maximize vehicle and equipment turnaround, work expeditiously, and be thorough, neat, and meticulous in their work
- The candidates should be physically fit, able to lift heavy equipment (including stretchers), and work rotating 12-hour shifts
- The candidates should be in good physical health and able to lift weights as prescribed by the job requirements
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have and experience with the assembly and disassembly of equipment, preferably medical equipment
- The candidates should possess a valid Ontario unrestricted CZ class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no demerit points accumulated, as per City of Ottawa corporate standard
- The candidates should be considered for the temporary posting with a G class Driver’s License but must obtain a CZ Driver’s License at a later date, with training provided by the employer
- The candidates should be familiar with methods and techniques for routine, deep, and specialized sanitizing of vehicles and equipment, as well as inventory control techniques
- The candidates should have knowledge of Ottawa Base Hospital Policy and Procedures for Sanitizing and Disinfection of Advanced Life Support Equipment, as well as City of Ottawa Equipment Maintenance and Paramedic Service Vehicle and Equipment Cleaning policies
- The candidates should be aware of Ministry of Health policies, procedures, guidelines, and specifications related to ambulance equipment supplies, vehicles stocking, sanitizing, and maintenance
- The candidates should have knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and related regulations, basic preventative maintenance methods for vehicles and equipment, and performance-based principles and knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to support the Special Operations, Training & Logistics Branch of the Paramedic Service by contributing to the development, implementation, and maintenance of paramedic specialty teams, including tactical, CBRNE, bike, marine, and critical care teams
- The candidates should be able to assist in the Community Paramedicine Program and support training and development initiatives for both internal staff and external stakeholders
- The candidates should be able to contribute to research proposals related to patient care and paramedic operations
- The candidates should be able to provide logistics, vehicle and equipment maintenance, stocking, cleaning, and repair to ensure resource availability and effective functioning of the Branch
- The candidates should be able to sanitize and process medical equipment, supplies, and vehicles in compliance with provincial standards and City of Ottawa policies and procedures
- The candidates should be able to ensure quality assurance and improvement for medical equipment and vehicles prior to or during vehicle assignments to shifts
