Shifts: Day, To be determined, Morning, 08:00 to 16:30
Transportation information: Own transportation, Willing to travel, Valid driver’s licence
Type of materials: Aluminum alloys, Non-ferrous materials, Stainless steel, Steel, iron and heavy metals
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as other trades certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Area of specialization: Custom fabrication, Truck repair, Machinery or equipment repair, Structural construction
Equipment and machinery experience: Arc welding machine, Brazing machine, Gas welding machine, Soldering machine
Welding techniques: Resistance, spot or seam, Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG), Gas metal arc welding (GMAW), Flux core arc welding (FCAW), Plasma arc welding (PAW), Brazing and soldering, Boilers
Own tools/equipment: Tools, Steel-toed safety boots, Safety glasses/goggles, Gloves, Mask, Face shield, Welding helmet
Credentials: First Aid Certificate, Pressure Welding Certification, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, Welder Trade Red Seal Certificate, Fall Arrest Protection Training Course, Forklift Operator Certification
Security and safety: Bondable, Basic security clearance, Criminal record check
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and perform repetitive tasks
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate attention to detail and have hand-eye co-ordination
- The candidates should be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be client-focused, possess efficient interpersonal skills, and have excellent oral communication
- The candidates should be flexible, be organized, and work as a team player
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to interpret welding process specifications and read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes
- The candidates should be able to examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications and operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
- The candidates should be able to operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines and fit, braze and torch-straighten metal
- The candidates should be able to operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC) and determine weldability of materials
- The candidates should be able to operate hoisting and lifting equipment and operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products
- The candidates should be able to operate previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or to fill holes, indentations and seams of metal and maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment
