Position: Family physician
No of Vacancies: 3
Salary: $250,000 to $400,000 annually (To be negotiated) for 35 to 44 hours per week
Employment Type: Term or contract Full time
Location: Calgary, AB
Shifts: Day, Evening, Weekend, Shift, Overtime, Flexible Hours, To be determined, Morning
Supervision: Staff in various areas of responsibility and 3-4 people

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Specialization in family practice: Alternative/complementary therapies, Family counselling, Geriatrics, Internal medicine, Nutritional counselling, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Palliative care, Psychotherapy, Sexually transmitted diseases, Sports medicine, and Occupational hygiene
Type of treatment experience: Pain management
Credentials: College of Family Physicians Certification (CCFP), Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC), College of Family Physicians Certification in Emergency Medicine – CCFP(EM), Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities, and Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE I and MCCQE II)

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates will experience a fast-paced environment, work under pressure and need attention to detail
  • The candidates will have a combination of sitting, standing and walking
  • The candidates will perform repetitive tasks

  • The candidate should be accurate, should be focused on clients, should be dependable
  • The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills, should have excellent oral communication, should have excellent written communication

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to collect medical information from patients, family members or other medical professionals, examine patients’ health condition to identify diseases and injuries and help patients develop healthy habits, break old habits and reshape their approach to wellness
  • The candidates should be able to order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures to determine the most appropriate medical treatment, consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health and prescribe and administer medications and treatments
  • The candidates should be able to inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases, participate in health care policy and planning and deliver babies and provide pre-natal and post-natal care
  • The candidates should be able to advise patients on health care, supervise staff and report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases to government authorities
  • The candidates should be able to be the patient advocate, co-ordinate or manage primary patient care and provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues
