Salary: $17.00 to $22.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 30 to 60 hours per week
Employment Type: Seasonal employment Full time
Location: Malakwa, BC
Work setting: Staff accommodation available and rural area
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Equipment and machinery experience: Farm truck, haying equipment, manure spreader, tractor, and hand tools
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience in beef cattle ranching and farming, including feedlots, and possess expertise in hay farming
- The candidates should be familiar with other miscellaneous crop farming and have experience in other vegetables and melon farming (except potato)
- The candidates should be willing to work outdoors, comfortable working in wet/damp conditions, and able to work in noisy environments
- The candidates should be tolerant of odors, accustomed to dusty conditions, and able to work in hot conditions
- The candidates should be accustomed to a fast-paced environment and able to work under pressure
- The candidates should be capable of meeting tight deadlines and prepared for repetitive tasks
- The candidates should be able to handle heavy loads and ready for physically demanding work
- The candidates should possess attention to detail and exhibit effective hand-eye coordination
- The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, including standing for extended periods and walking as part of their duties
- The candidates should be comfortable with bending, crouching, and kneeling, and may be required to work overtime as part of the job
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills and exhibit flexibility in their approach
- The candidates should exercise good judgment, be highly organized, and be team players
- The candidates should have excellent oral communication skills and be reliable in meeting commitments
- The candidates should be quick learners
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to hand harvest vegetables and plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops
- The candidates should be able to harvest crops and operate/maintain farm machinery and equipment
- The candidates should be able to clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens
