Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a High Five Certification
Experience: Candidates should have experience teaching multi-level group exercise classes with a variety of formats
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to perform physical exercises while instructing and be prepared to work primarily in a community centre environment
- The candidates should be able to pass a Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Check as a condition of employment, at their own expense, to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to create a safe and effective class plan tailored to the specific format, applying sound training principles and incorporate exercises and modifications that offer a variety of options for comfort and intensity, ensuring all participants feel safe and successful
- The candidates should be able to plan and prepare music suitable for the class format and aligned with participants’ needs and preferences and present and instruct the group exercise format in accordance with the provided outline
- The candidates should be able to provide verbal, visual, and kinesthetic cues for exercises and technique to address diverse learning styles
- The candidates should be able to offer options and modifications for exercises to vary intensity and ensure participants’ comfort
- The candidates should be able to balance education and motivation in their instruction, suitable for the format and the participants and engage with other staff members in a positive, cooperative manner to maximize the use of facilities, space, and services for participants
- The candidates should be able to support the objectives and goals of all fitness programs by delivering quality instruction, supervision, and fostering strong customer and staff relationships
- The candidates should be able to conduct themselves positively and professionally, both inside and outside of class, in line with the City of Mississauga’s standards and promote other classes and programs to encourage participant involvement
- The candidates should be able to provide quality customer service and serve as a knowledgeable resource for participants and respond effectively to customer inquiries with accurate information or direct them to relevant resources within their scope of service
- The candidates should be able to escalate questions outside their knowledge to the Supervisor or Manager on duty, particularly those related to specific facilities or City of Mississauga programs and services
