Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist in the development of Flight Dispatch employee work schedules based on short-term requirements, including operational needs, vacation schedules, regulatory and non-regulatory training, Flight Dispatcher Competency Checks, and mutual shift trade coverage, in compliance with collective agreements. Additionally, input bi-weekly pay summary entries
  • The candidates should be able to effectively manage the CALDA administrative advance workload assignment process and gather absenteeism data from various sources, such as Staff Admin and eXceptions and ensure Air Canada’s adherence to the Night Flight Restriction Program and research potential day-of-operations quiet hour flight operations violations
  • The candidates should be able to respond to and track written correspondence with local airport and Transport Canada authorities to mitigate potential monetary fines or operational restrictions and manage the deployment of facility and equipment resources for the operational floor in the Operations Control Centre
  • The candidates should be able to develop, distribute, and maintain records and advisories related to the management of the In-flight Security Officer (IFSO) program and support the Chief Duty Dispatcher in case of irregularities and manage the Zetron phone system for the Operations Control Centre with the service provider, including liaising with different departments for information updates and managing operational screen design
  • The candidates should be able to maintain Flight Dispatcher training and qualification records to monitor completion of competency checks, annual recurrent training, and other regulatory requirements to maintain Air Canada Dispatch Certificates and ensure Emergency Response Lockout and Business Continuity plans are current and communicated to the Flight Dispatch and Weight Balance teams. They should also ensure departmental participation in Emergency Response Exercises
  • The candidates should be able to manage document control according to Air Canada Corporate Safety Management Manual (SMM) standards and represent Flight Dispatch at Change Review Committee meetings for the Operations Centre and act as liaison with Corporate Real Estate to coordinate projects and manage employee engagement events
  • The candidates should be able to amend and maintain the Flight Dispatch Operational library, including Aircraft Operating Manual (AOM), Master Equipment List (MEL), Flight Operations Manual (FOM), Canada Air Pilot (CAP), Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), Jeppesen Charts, Flight Dispatch Manual (FDM), Flight Dispatch Training Manual (FDTM), Emergency Response Manual (Pub 400), and Operations Specifications
  • The candidates should be able to integrate new content and maintain the Flight Dispatch website and anticipate, identify, and resolve service and operational issues with a results-oriented approach to performance
  • The candidates should be able to assist in pre-audit preparation for audits performed by Transport Canada, STAR Alliance, or other agencies, and provide assistance in post-audit follow-up by determining corrective action plans
