Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of graduate of a forestry, natural resource management, biological science, or environmental science degree or a diploma program from a recognized educational institution
Experience: Candidates should have experience working in an outdoor environment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada, possess and maintain a valid full-stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent from other provinces without any restrictions
- The candidates should be willing and able to travel to remote locations throughout the Province of Manitoba via trucks, all-terrain vehicles, boats, or rotary or fixed-wing aircraft
- The candidates should be willing and able to work overtime when required and work out-of-town for extended periods of up to ten days with overnight accommodations in bunkhouses, hotels, and tents
- The candidates should be physically capable of performing duties that require moderate physical effort, including carrying equipment such as chainsaws and forestry samples for long distances, potentially over rough terrain and in adverse weather conditions
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience collecting, recording, and maintaining data and strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the public
- The candidates should be able to work independently under minimal supervision and experience driving a variety of vehicles, such as trucks or vans, over different terrains, including paved highways, gravel roads, and forestry roads and trails
- The candidates should have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and knowledge of safe work practices
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to navigate to plot locations, collect and record data, and communicate with the public while adhering to the Forest Health Protection Act
- The candidates should be able to complete forestry laboratory analysis and work based out of Winnipeg and travel regularly, staying in accommodations throughout Manitoba
- The candidates should be able to work a combination of 5-day and 10-day shifts to conduct field work
