- The candidates should be able to load, unload, and transport construction materials and operate mobile and tower cranes, pile driving cranes, gantry cranes, locomotive cranes, and cranes mounted on boats or barges to lift, move, position, or place equipment and materials
- The candidates should be able to mix, pour, and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt and assist in framing houses, erecting walls, building roofs, and cleaning and piling salvaged materials
- The candidates should be able to operate dragline cranes to expose coal seams and ore deposits at open pit mines, clean up chemical spills and other contaminants, and direct traffic at or near construction sites
