Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of post-secondary training in metal fabrication
Experience: Candidates should have manufacturing experience, preferably in the metalworking industry

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and be a team player and work days, evenings, overnights, and weekends, with rotation

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to use measuring tools and interpret blueprints and forklift experience
  • The candidates should have experience with overhead cranes, CNC experience, which would be an advantage and knowledge of lean manufacturing

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to observe all safety rules, policies, and procedures and interpret shop orders, blueprints, and verbal instructions
  • The candidates should be able to locate and move material to and from work areas using pallet jacks, forklifts, and overhead cranes
  • The candidates should be able to manually position material to gauge stops and scribed lines, operating machines via foot pedal and hand controls
  • The candidates should be able to perform several quality checks on parts produced during the production run using calipers, measuring tapes, gauges, and templates
  • The candidates should be able to report an accurate count of parts manufactured against lists or shop orders and input data into a computer system, recording any scrapped production units
  • The candidates should be able to affix part numbers to finished parts using stickers, tags, or similar methods
  • The candidates should be able to note and report defects in tools, materials, and equipment
  • The candidates should be able to perform minor machine maintenance and cleaning on a daily basis
  • The candidates should be able to keep the work area, tools, and equipment clean and orderly and involved in lean manufacturing events
