Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 3 years to less than 5 years
Area of specialization: Automated irrigation system and Storage and silage system
Equipment and machinery experience: Farm truck, Forklift, Loader, Tractor, Vegetable harvester, Fertilizer applicator, Lift truck, Manure spreader, Planting equipment, Seed drill, Sprayer or duster, Tillage equipment, Welding, Hand tools
Own tools/equipment: Gloves and Steel-toed safety boots
Credentials: First Aid Certificate, Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Pesticide Applicator’s Licence and Forklift Operator Certification
Security and safety: Bondable and Criminal record check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in fruit and vegetable combination farming and be comfortable working outdoors, in confined spaces, wet/damp, dangerous, and odorous environments, as well as in dusty, hot, noisy, and cold/refrigerated conditions
  • The candidates should have the ability to work independently, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and handle repetitive tasks under pressure, capable of handling heavy loads and meeting tight deadlines
  • The candidates should be physically fit for demanding tasks, with manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, demonstrate attention to detail, and be able to stand for extended periods, as well as bend, crouch, and kneel
  • The candidates should be comfortable with a large workload, have sound discrimination skills, and be willing to work overtime when required
  • The candidates should be able to handle a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, and lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate flexibility, be organized, and exhibit reliability
  • The candidates should be a team player, uphold values and ethics, and be quick learners

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to grade, hoe crops, mix fertilizer, plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops, and perform seed cutting
  • The candidates should be able to weed, clean work areas, fertilize and spray crops, and sort and pack fruits and vegetables
  • The candidates should be able to harvest crops, load, unload, and transfer crates, supplies, and farm produce, livestock, and poultry, and operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
  • The candidates should be able to clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens, detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock, and poultry, and move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies
