Work Site Environment: Other vegetables and melon farming (except potato), At heights, Confined spaces, Wet/damp, Odours, Hot, Cold/refrigerated, Non-smoking
Work Setting: Rural area, Remote location
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as high school, bachelor’s degree, a certificate or a diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset, training will be provided
Type of Product: Hydroponic horticultural products
Type of Crops: Bell peppers, Greenhouse vegetables
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and perform repetitive tasks
- The candidate should be able to handle heavy loads and pay attention to detail
- The candidate should be able to work with hand-eye coordination and work for overtime hours
- The candidate should be able handle large workloads
- The candidate should be physically demanding and a combination of standing for extended periods, bending, crouching and kneeling
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to perform tasks such as Cleaning crop, Deleafing, Grading, Greenhouse cleaning, Hand harvesting vegetables, Mixing fertilizer and Vegetable culling
- The candidate should be able to plant, cultivate and irrigate crops also fertilize and spray crops
- The candidate should be able to harvest crops also operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
- The candidate should be able to detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry also examine produce for quality and prepare for market
- The candidate should be able to assist in pruning trees, shrubs and plants
