Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Geological Technician Diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience in the underground production mining environment

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, along with analytical skills and a safety-oriented mindset
• The candidates should be required to work, transport samples, and walk daily underground
• The candidates should be able to manipulate core boxes and sample bags weighing approximately 40-50 pounds as part of the physical aspects of the position

Other Requirements:

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to orient and direct lateral development headings under geological control and track work performed in production stopes and control ore grade sent to the mill with the help of the engineering and mine departments
• The candidates should be able to sample and map mineralized zones of faces in development headings and complete geological and structural mapping of the underground development headings
• The candidates should be able to control the nature and quality of the material brought to the surface through visual inspections of remucks and by inserting QAQC tracers in the mucked material
• The candidates should be able to evaluate the grade of work areas underground and estimate the dilution of the ore extracted
• The candidates should be able to collect and input all geological information gathered and distribute a daily report detailing work done and needed in mineralized ore developments and stopes
• The candidates should be able to participate in production meetings and inform participants about the evolution of the work performed by the geology department underground
• The candidates should be able to participate in short-term production planning and ensure adherence to the health and safety standards of the company
• The candidates should be able to innovative and demonstrate a proven ability to work collaboratively with others
• The candidates should be able to perform all other tasks related to the operations of Island Gold Mine as required by their supervisor
