Work setting: Urban area and Barbershop or hairstyling salon/studio

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 7 months to less than 1 year
Hair styling techniques: Blow drying, Hair braiding, Iron waving/curling, Permanents, Extensions, Pin curls and Roller setting
Hair colouring techniques: Bleach, Dyes/tints and Streaking/highlights

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should be adept at working in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle repetitive tasks with efficiency
• The candidates should possess a keen attention to detail and have good hand-eye coordination
• The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking during work, and be able to stand for extended periods as part of the job requirements

Other Requirements:

• The candidates should be oriented towards client focus in their approach to work and possess efficient interpersonal skills
• The candidates should demonstrate excellent oral communication abilities and exhibit flexibility in adapting to various work situations
• The candidates should be reliable in fulfilling job responsibilities and function well as a team player

Candidate Status:

• Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
• Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to book appointments and cut/trim hair according to the client’s instructions or preferences
• The candidates should be able to shampoo customers’ hair and shave/trim beards and mustaches
• The candidates should be able to provide various hair treatments, such as waving, straightening, tinting, and scalp conditioning massages
• The candidates should be able to supervise other hair stylists and staff, analyze hair and scalp conditions, and provide basic treatment or advice on beauty care
• The candidates should be able to apply bleach, tints, dyes, or rinses for coloring and apply hair extensions
• The candidates should be able to clean and style wigs and hairpieces, perform various hair services like cutting, trimming, tapering, curling, waving, perming, and styling
• The candidates should be able to suggest hairstyles compatible with clients’ physical features or determine styles from clients’ instructions and preferences
• The candidates should be able to perform receptionist duties and maintain/order supplies
