Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have Diploma in Early Childhood Education or Social Work
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with families (0-6 years)
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector check. Failure to provide a satisfactory check may deem you disqualified from the competition.
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess child development and parenting skills
- The candidates should have knowledge and application of knowledge regarding Pre and Post Natal Care
- The candidates should demonstrate knowledge of family issues and stresses of parenting, including family violence and addictions
- The candidates should have knowledge of resources available in the community to support families
- The candidates should have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- The candidates should have knowledge of and/or the ability to learn and understand the cultural history of the community, especially with regards to parenting
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to report to the Supervisor, Healthy Family Program (Supervisor) and be an integral member of the community Child and Family Services team
- The candidates should be able to interact with clientele, including families, children under school age, other family members, community members, and other health care providers
- The candidates should be able to provide family supports that are culturally safe, trauma-informed, family-centered, strength-based, and directed at establishing a trusting relationship with families
- The candidates should be able to deliver three streams of services universally accessible to families with children 0-6 years, including conducting one-to-one visits with parents/caregivers, facilitating group programs and community workshops, and serving as community connectors, linking families with healthcare, cultural, and peer support resources
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with their community network of Cultural Knowledge Holders, Elders, early childhood staff, and other healthcare providers to deliver culture- and land-based group programs that strengthen the roles of parents and support healthy child development
- The candidates should be able to support families to access preventative medicine, including supporting attendance at Well Child Visits and identifying possible areas for early intervention supports such as speech and language or other possible developmental delays
