Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have hold a Journeyman’s certificate as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should have the ability to carefully monitor gauges, instruments, or processes
• The candidates should be able to take action in solving problems while exhibiting good judgment
• The candidates should be able to follow instructions and have solid written and verbal communication skills and work as a member of a team
• The candidates should have the ability to perform a wide variety of tasks and change focus quickly as demands change

Other Requirements:

• The candidates should Technician or as an Automotive Mechanic or Technician, or be a registered and active 2nd or 3rd year apprentice in Heavy-Duty Mechanics
• The candidates should emphasize safety, as this is a high-risk environment involving heavy moving equipment
• The candidates should undergo a criminal history check and provide references for a reference check
• The candidates should complete an education verification and their driver’s license verified

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all systems associated with Work Equipment Mechanical, Electrical, and Hydraulic
• The candidates should be able to make inspections and tests, and repair or replace parts with limited resources in remote outdoor locations
• The candidates should be able to perform welding repairs and investigate and locate equipment problems and take corrective action to minimize the impact on crew production
• The candidates should be able to plan work and coordinate it with others and prepare and submit equipment maintenance records and timesheets
• The candidates should be able to obtain certification in CPKC safety rules and stay away from home as required, with meal allowance
• The candidates should be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions rain, direct sunlight and snow
