Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as a Grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have two (2) years related work experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work with a high degree of autonomy and independence to adjudicate eligibility and establish entitlement using problem-solving techniques, judgment, precedence, legislation, policy, and procedures, due to the fact that the Income Assistance Worker is often in a different community than their supervisor
  • The candidates should undergo a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • The candidates should have fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages and acceptable combinations of education and experience
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to deliver the Income Assistance Program under the supervision of the Manager, Income Assistance, in accordance with the Social Assistance Act, regulations, policies, and departmental procedures
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that all clients are positioned to make workable, productive choices by providing integrated delivery of the Income Assistance Program, which may include counseling and referrals to appropriate agencies to address employment barriers
  • The candidates should be able to provide services to the community for a variety of Income Assistance programs including Social Assistance, Child Day Care Subsidy, Seniors’ Fuel Subsidy, and Nunavut Seniors’ Citizen’s Supplement Benefit

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get Northern Allowance of $22,042.00 per year
