Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a degree in Sciences, Arts, Public Administration, Business Administration, Geography, Engineering, Commerce, Urban Planning and Communications
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to self-direct, working both independently and collaboratively with others to achieve high-quality outputs on multiple concurrent projects
  • The candidates should have the ability to develop relationships and project opportunities

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have additional skills and experiences considered as assets, including knowledge and experience in service design and relationship building in a complex and political environment, consulting (or equivalent) in the public, private, or not-for-profit sectors, and expertise in Human-Centered Design, Service Design, Design Thinking, Behavioral Insights, Design Sprint methodology, and other innovation methodologies
  • The candidates should possess excellent communication skills for diverse audiences and superior facilitation skills
  • The candidates should have proven experience in adult education and experience design and a bias to action, growth mindset, curiosity, and tenacity to drive impact
  • The candidates should be able to influence without authority both laterally and vertically on projects and well-developed facilitation skills and refined political acumen
  • The candidates should be prepared to be tested for appropriate skills and must provide proof of qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide innovation subject matter expertise and deliver innovation projects to improve service delivery within the City, utilizing human-centered design and systems thinking methodologies
  • The candidates should be able to advance the goals of the Innovation Lab program by supporting service offerings, including projects across the Corporation and within the Infrastructure Services Departments innovation program
  • The candidates should be able to proactively identify and build relationships that support and foster the development of more collaborative and innovative teams
  • The candidates should be able to work with both project partners and Innovation Lab colleagues to lead, advance, and consult on innovation projects, identifying opportunities to build innovation capabilities and cultivate an innovation culture
  • The candidates should be able to support the design and delivery of professional development opportunities and experiences for City staff and external partners in civic and social innovation tools and methods
  • The candidates should be able to provide expertise in civic and social innovation practices, principles, and methodologies, including staying informed on trends in civic and social innovation in Canada and globally
