Shift: Up to 24 hours/week
Schedule: Weekdays, Weekends, Days, Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings and Assigned Shift

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Standard First Aid and CPR C certification
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should attend all mandatory staff training sessions
  • The candidates should meet the minimum age requirement of 15 years old to work as an Instructor or Guard in Ontario
  • The candidates should have a passion for promoting and maintaining a healthy and safe workplace and the ability to work respectfully and effectively in a team environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be LSS Instructors and Swim Instructors and National Lifeguard Service certification
  • The candidates should demonstrate a commitment to Reconciliation, Equity, Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • The candidates should have their aquatic skills screened prior to an interview and strong commitment to delivering quality customer service
  • The candidates should provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the city immediately upon hire
  • The candidates should maintain fitness level and certification in accordance with Lifesaving Society standards

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide quality swimming lesson instruction and lifeguard services at the Waterloo Swimplex
  • The candidates should be able to deliver excellent customer service and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills combined with a background in aquatics, Waterfit instruction, and/or the Lifesaving Society Learn to Swim program
  • The candidates should be able to act in compliance with Ontario Health Regulations, relevant legislation, and operational guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the operation of the waterslide, wading pools, and splash pads
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a safe and clean pool area and aid in accident prevention and public education
