Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should hold LSS Instructor and Swim Instructor certifications
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should attend all mandatory staff training and be a minimum age of 15 years old to work as an Instructor and Guard in Ontario
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have National Lifeguard Service certification, Standard First Aid and CPR C certification
- The candidates should have a passion for promoting and maintaining a healthy and safe workplace and the ability to work respectfully and effectively in a team environment
- The candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering quality customer service and show a demonstrated commitment to Reconciliation, Equity, Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion
- The candidates should have aquatic skills, which will be screened prior to an interview and provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the city immediately upon hire
- The candidates should maintain fitness levels and certifications in accordance with Lifesaving Society standards
Responsibilities:
- he candidates should be able to provide quality swimming lesson instruction and lifeguard services at the Waterloo Swimplex
- The candidates should be able to deliver excellent customer service and have strong interpersonal skills, with experience in aquatics, Waterfit instruction, and the Lifesaving Society Learn to Swim program
- The candidates should be able to act in compliance with Ontario Health Regulations, relevant legislation, and operational guidelines
- The candidates should be able to assist in the operation of the waterslide, wading pools, and splash pads, ensuring safety and smooth operation
- The candidates should be able to assist in accident prevention and public education to promote pool safety
- The candidates should be able to maintain a safe and clean pool area, ensuring the well-being of all patrons
