Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should hold a High School diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years’ experience in the trade
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should meet Air Canada medical standards, as employees in this role conduct safety-critical work, including passing a medical evaluation, drug, and alcohol test, and maintaining a state free of intoxicating substances
- The candidates should be eligible to work in the country of interest at the time of offer and ensure they secure any required work permits/visas or other authorizations independently
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a Millwright 433A or Red Seal certification and hold either a Millwright 426A or an Electromechanical Engineering Technician diploma as an alternative qualification
- The candidates should have an Automotive Service Technician 310S, 310T Commercial Transport Mechanic, or Heavy-Duty Mechanic trades certification
- The candidates should have an Inter-Provincial Red Seal certification and successfully pass the pre-employment qualifying exam
- The candidates should be able to obtain and maintain applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations (please refer to the Transport Canada site for more details)
- The candidates should hold welder certificates, licenses, 3D Printing working knowledge and certificates and possess air conditioning and refrigeration certificates and licenses
- The candidates should hold propane fuel systems certificates, licenses and previous experience maintaining mobile ground power (generators), air conditioners (up to 110 tons), and air start units (compressors up to 250 cfm); experience with farm or heavy industrial equipment and current security clearance
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge of power transmission systems, internal combustion engines, and electric motors
- The candidates should be able to maintain and repair propane fuel systems, complex pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- The candidates should be able to perform basic machining using lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and engage in metal fabrication and welding
- The candidates should be able to work on compressors, vacuum pumps, and related equipment, including electric and electronic controls
- The candidates should be able to apply rigging and hoisting techniques effectively and read and understand various drawings and schematic diagrams for maintenance troubleshooting
- The candidates should be able to proficiently use computers and diagnostic tools for equipment evaluation
- The candidates should be able to work collaboratively as team players while maintaining excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The candidates should be able to exhibit a customer-focused attitude in a demanding, high-stress environment
