Job Description:

Position: Journeyman/woman welder
No of Vacancies: 2
Salary: $21.00 to $35.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Stony Mountain, MB
Shifts: To be determined
Transportation information: Own transportation, Willing to travel regularly, Valid driver’s licence, and Public transportation is not available

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Area of specialization: Custom fabrication, Machinery or equipment repair, Pressure vessels, Large diameter pipelines, and Structural construction 
Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, and Welding helmet
Credentials: Welder Trade Red Seal Certificate

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be capable of handling heavy loads
• The candidates should be physically capable of meeting the demands of a physically demanding job and possess manual dexterity
• The candidates should have attention to detail and be comfortable sitting for extended periods if required
• The candidates should be able to handle weights up to 45 kg (100 lbs) and weights more than 45 kg (100 lbs)

Other Requirements:

• The candidates should demonstrate client focus and show flexibility
• The candidates should be organized and be team players

Candidate Status:

• Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
• Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
• If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to interpret welding process specifications and operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment
• The candidates should be able to read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals, and processes, examine welds to ensure they meet standards and/or specifications, and operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
• The candidates should be able to operate brakes, shears, and other metal shaping, straightening, and bending machines, fit, braze, and torch-straighten metal, and operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air)
• The candidates should be able to determine the weldability of materials, operate hoisting and lifting equipment, and operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products
• The candidates should be able to operate previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or to fill holes, indentations, and seams of metal, and maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing, and soldering equipment
