Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED
Experience: Candidates should ideally have 2-3 years of lab experience in oils & fats, food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, grain milling, or a related industry

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an equivalent combination of education and experience, as it will be considered
  • The candidates should be self-starters with good interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to work independently, sometimes without supervision
  • The candidates should have the ability to read and interpret various directives that may be provided in written or oral format, such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, drawings, and production schedules
  • The candidates should have the ability to complete routine reports and correspondence
  • The candidates should have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • The candidates should have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • The candidates should have experience with an ERP, such as SAP, as it is preferred
  • The candidates should be able to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform sampling and routine testing to determine chemical, physical, and microbiological characteristics or composition of solid and liquid materials to ensure process and quality control measures are effective
  • The candidates should be able to follow all policies and procedures to ensure that performed work exceeds the requirements of “Good Laboratory Practices” and to maintain the positive image of a reliable and efficient laboratory
  • The candidates should be able to perform physical and chemical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products
  • The candidates should be able to verify that test results conform to product and customer specifications
  • The candidates should be able to ensure timely delivery of test results, issue certificates of analysis, file testing information, and maintain analysis databases
  • The candidates should be able to prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas
  • The candidates should be able to follow lab safety regulations at all times, including but not limited to eye protection, hand protection, and proper use of fume hoods or other breathing protection
  • The candidates should be able to set up, adjust, and operate lab equipment, including gas and liquid chromatographs, balances, colorimeters, refractometers, and other related equipment
  • The candidates should be able to assist with general upkeep of the lab, including cleaning of lab instruments, glass bottles, vials and tubes, as well as counters, cabinets, and fixtures
  • The candidates should be able to maintain inventory of lab chemicals to ensure secure storing, adequate supply, safe and correct disposal of waste chemicals, and to prevent storage of expired stock
  • The candidates should be able to update and maintain critical logs, generating related graphs, charts, and tables
  • The candidates should be able to perform other duties as assigned or needed
