Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have one year of recent laboratory work experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities within short timelines
  • The candidates should be flexible with shifts and hours to accommodate assigned shifts based on operational needs, including days, evenings, weekends, overnights, and statutory holidays
  • The candidates should be able to lift weights up to 20 lbs

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an equivalent combination of education and experience and post-secondary courses in sciences
  • The candidates should have experience in food processing, pharmaceutical, or biologics manufacturing
  • The candidates should possess good oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English
  • The candidates should have the ability to learn required technical skills and operate related equipment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to leverage their communication skills to issue blood and related products to customers, such as Provincial Hospitals and other blood centers, and communicate with hospital teams about orders placed
  • The candidates should be able to follow Canadian Blood Services’ Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices to receive and store blood and fractionation products and maintain stock of distribution supplies
  • The candidates should be able to draw from their knowledge and training of laboratory safety practices to ensure the safety of blood products by monitoring product and product storage equipment temperature, humidity variations performing recalls, and removing outdated products
  • The candidates should be able to utilize their organization and time management skills to perform batching and packing of orders by priority and time of delivery, ensuring compliance with established parameters for time and temperature limits during transit
