Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of completed Grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have a one year of recent related experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to deal with others effectively and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • The candidates should have the physical ability to carry out the duties of the position and the ability to operate related equipment
  • The candidates should have the ability to organize workload and function effectively under pressure

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have Laboratory Assistant Certificate or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to receive, assess, and produce whole blood, apheresis platelets, and plasma into requested blood components, drawing on their laboratory experience
  • The candidates should be able to assist the laboratory manager in the development and evaluation of procedures, utilizing their knowledge and understanding of blood component production
  • The candidates should be able to maintain appropriate documentation and records related to inventory, ensuring compliance with Canadian Blood Services operational procedures and work instructions
  • The candidates should be able to perform routine maintenance of equipment and work areas to ensure the safety and quality of blood products, applying their proactive approach to excellence
