Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of post-secondary education in Labour Relations, Industrial Relations or Human Resources Management, with a preference for labour law
Experience: Candidates should have experience in the development of labour relations policies or contributing to projects or work that have significant labour relations impacts

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be prepared to work onsite in an office environment
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to think strategically
  • The candidates should promote common values and ethics

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should model interpersonal skills and personal responsibility
  • The candidates should have experience in developing people

  • The candidates should have considerable labor relations experience within a unionized environment, including dealing with workplace or disciplinary investigations, grievances and performance management
  • The candidates should have experience implementing integrated solutions and strategies,  providing advice to all levels of management and collective bargaining experience

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide labour relations leadership and expertise for the development and administration of employee relations for the Yukon government
  • The candidates should be able to manage the collective bargaining processes and support departments in employee relations matters
  • The candidates should be able to provide advice and recommendations to departmental Human Resources staff and all levels of supervisory personnel on challenging employee relations matters
  • The candidates should be able to work closely with colleagues within the Public Service Commission
  • The candidates should be able to provide interpretation and advice on Yukon government’s two collective agreements and human resources policies
  • The candidates should be able to manage the resolution of grievances, human rights complaints, and employment-related litigation
  • The candidates should be able to participate in various labour relations-focused projects and working groups
